Planning | My Gap Year

As I've previously mentioned - I am at a loss with what I want to do with my future. I'm at the age where I have to make a choice! I failed to do this so I decided to take a gap yaer. Now that my gap year has started I would suggest to you if you're considering taking a gap year - PLAN IN ADVANCE.
Something I haven't done. Mainly because I had no idea what I wanted to do nor did I really have time whilst sitting my A Levels. Despite my lack of planning I am determinded to make this year worthwhile, memorable and exciting.
I am currently enjoying j'ust living' and not having any real responsability!

A Gap Year is a chance to cut loose, chill out, travel and experience new things! There's so many different things to do i.e travel, work, volunteer and the list goes on and on!

Firstly, it's important to be realistic. Travelling costs money, so you need to have been saving for a while. Just research how much everything costs, where's good to go, what you can afford - ask lots of questions! Be realistic with what you can afford.

One thing I want to do in life is TRAVEL. Experience the world and all it's amazing cultures and wonders.
I would have liked to go eerywhere on my gap year but money doesn't grow on trees. I've narrowed it down to Australia and I want to do some travelling on my gap year. By now I've narrowed it down to wanting to go to Oz and New Zealand. Before that I had no idea and just wanted to go everywhere!!
I would spend ages trolling through sites. Here are some of the sites I've looked at.

STA - http://www.statravel.co.uk/
Real Gap - http://www.realgap.co.uk/
Gap 360 - http://www.gap360.com/
Plan My Gap Year - http://www.planmygapyear.co.uk/

I decided to go with STA to help plan my trip. They were so helpful and thourough! They have so many options to suit everyone, wherever you go, with whatever budget and for however long.
I decided to go on an organised tour as I was meant to go travelling with a few friends, but for various reasons they can no longer go.

I don't want to waste the year and I've always wanted to do this I'm going at it alone! It's absolutely terrifying but in a good way I suppose. In a way that excites me and I can't wait to experience it.

My advice to you is to buy yourself a little diary, write all the lists, and notes you need! Write down every thing you get up to down - it's nice to look back on!
Buy yourself a little folder and keep all important documents in there so you know where everthing is and it's all in one place.

I hope this was helpful to some of you if you're at the beginning of organising!

Growing Up | My Gap Year

Do you ever have those moments when you realise you are just one tiny fish in massive ocean? That you're trying to live your life as billions of other creatures try to live theirs. There's no right way to live, so I suppose you just have to make yourself happy. It's hard to know what to do and when.
It's now that time of year again where school starts back, or in many of my friend's cases - university. A totally new step.

I feel there is a lot of pressure on young people to know what they want to do with their lives.
How on earth are you meant to know what you want to do when you've never tried it before? You're job is something you'll have to do for the rest of your life. We've only spent a small time on this earth, and a majority of that time in education where everything is dictated to you.
You go from being in school and college where you get told what to do, to being responsible for your own future and making mature decision and accepting the consequences that are going to effect you for the rest of your life. The idea of growing up terrifies me. To the point I just want to curl into a ball and not think about it at all.
The people who've known exactly what they wanted to be since they were little are very lucky people. But even then you never really know if it's just the 'idea' of it that you like or if you'd truly enjoy it.

As I'm an August-baby, I'm one of the youngest people in the year. I felt I needed a bit of time to rest after the last few years being so stressful with so much school work. To give myself a bit more time I decided to take a gap year! I felt I needed that time to grow up, gain some life and work experience.

There's so many options and different careers available that it's difficult to know which one is right for me. Obviously university isn't for everyone, and neither is a gap year!
After seeing my friends go to university and enjoying this big change and meeting new people, I've decided I would like to try and go to univeristy. I wasn't sure if it was for me, but I guess I can't knock it til I try it!
But I will be keeping you up to date with my Gap Year and what I get up to. Goodluck to anyone starting a new job/university!

Fun in the Sun

My friend and I decided to take full advantage of the remainder of the sunshine and have a go on some segways! There's something to tick off the bucket list...
I had a great day attempting to play golf and splashing in the sea! Days like these are my favourite!

What's in my Bag | Night Out Edition

I have a love affair with bags, but my collection is formed entirely of day bags/satchels. When I turned 18 last month the hunt was on to find the perfect going out bag. It's a completly different ball game.
It has to be large enough to fit a lot of essentials in, yet small enough to not get in the way. It has to close securely, go with a lot of outfits, and have some sort of strap or chain to make sure it doesn't get lost.
I really struggled to find a bag that was practical and fitted a lot in! After a lot of hunting I found THIS bag in Accessorize for £19. Along with this one which was a close contender.
Both are black which means they would go with a lot. They have a chain (which is also removable) so that it's easy to keep hold of. AND to top it all off they have multiple compartments that you can fill with crap, yet the bag itself is still small! Thank you accessorize - you hit the nail on the head.

So what's actually in my bag?

A purse (containing ID and money)
Iphone
A portable charger and cable - read the post here
Tissues - I have to have tissues on me at all times, sometimes even a small pack of wetwipes in case of an emergency!
Weird but true a Spare Pair of Knickers - just because you never know...
Straws - I am obsessed with straws so I have to stick some in my bag! You wouldn't want to ruin that lipstick you spent so much time perfecting now would you!!!
Speaking of lipstick it's always a good idea to take the lipstick you're wearing out with you for top ups. This paticular one is Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick - 01
Powder is essential if you're in a hot sweaty night club I take my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and a Model's Own Powder Brush
Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer with an Avon Concealer Brush

The Portable Charger

I recently decided to invest in a portable charger, and now I'm wondering HOW DID I SURVIVE WITHOUT ONE? I had to be extra careful with how and when I used my phone with the brightness down as low as possible but that's no longer the case!
I saw a comment on a youtube video suggesting Anker Portable chargers. I found the Astro Mini 3000mAh Ultra-Compact Lipstick-Sized Portable Power Bank Pack External Battery USB Charger with PowerIQ™ Technology on Amazon for £13.99 and decided to give it a go
The charger is slightly bigger than your average lipstick, and it comes with a little case/bag so it's easy to pop in your handbag! It also comes in lots of colours!

I have found it very good, but you to have to buy an extra cable to go along with it to actually charge the phone (but there's many cheap ones on amazon) which also means it's suitable for all phone types!
Sorry for this random post but I just thought some might be useful to some!

The End of Summer

September is upon us which means one thing ... summer has ended for yet another year. Here in Wales the weather has been amazing (for the majority). Summer is a beautiful time of the year. To make the most of the remaining heat I went for a little stroll. Enjoy some of the pics.

Sixthform Prom OOTD

As I mentioned in this post I recently turned 18 and recieved my A Level results. The tradition in my school is that you have the 'main' prom in year 11 when people usually leave school. But as there's a sixthform in my school there's also a low key prom at the end of each year.
Here's what I wore..

Dress - The dress was a mint colour from Forever 21, I couldn't find the Link online but it was around £30! The detailing on the dress was gorgeous
Shoes - If I was to do it again I would wear different shoes but the one's I wore were these for £22 from Miss Selfridge.
Bag - Although I didn't have a photo taken with my clutch it was this beautiful one from Accessorize, which you can buy here for £39.
Hair & Make Up - I curled my own hair, and for my make up I used Mac Club all over my eyes, and added false lashes for extra oomph!

August Favourites

This is the first monthly favourites I've done on this blog, and what better month to start with than August! August is always an exciting month for me, and this year has been paticularly amazing!!!
Here are some of the things I've been loving.

Beauty
There isn't many make up items that have jumped out at me this month except Maybelline's On and On Bronze Colour Tattoo. It's my go to eye product on a day where I'm not really sure what I want to do, or I'm in a bit of a rush. It just looks so gorgeous on the eyes and stays put!!

I'm also beginning to get the hype around eyelash curlers! I'm just liking the effect they give!

Fashion & Jewellry
I don't know what's come over me but I am being drawn to stripes. Over the past month I've picked up countless basic stripey tees. Like the black and white one from H&M, and blue one from Zara TRF.
BRETON IS BACK!
I picked up this necklace from the Sterling Silver Collection from Accessorize. I just think it's adorable and haven't taken it off. I love the little star and moon.

Homewear
I picked up this bedding for a small £10 from Primark and I just think it's awesome! I love pugs FYI.

Food & Drink
Robinsons squash just brings it! And for a little taste of summer I've been loving the Orange and Mango and Orange and Pineapple.

YouTube & Music
Essie Button is a firm favourite youtuber every month! But especially this month as I've been watching her #NordicVlogs. She just seems so sweet and genuine and I could watch her all day, every day. Watch her beauty channel here and vlog channel here.

For music I have been loving listening to Mike Dignam. His music is so dreamy and calming! For me, it just sums up summer. Watch his you tube channel here.

Monthly Round Up
As August was such an amazing month I thought I'd quickly just write about what I've been up to. I started the month off by participating in my last ever school show to celebrate the National Eisteddfod. I also visited the Eisteddfod and the young people's festival that comes with it (Maes B).
I somehow managed to pass my driving test, get all dressed up for my final school prom, turn 18 and recieve my A Level Results all in the space of one week. The celebrations continued for the rest of the month and I felt so lucky to be spoilt by my amazing friends. I'm sad that this month is over.
