Disclaimer: I am not an expert on health & fitness and I am by far not the healthiest or fittest person.
Despite that I am actively trying to change my diet slowly and go to the gym regularly.
What I have realised that if you're forcing yourself to eat healthy and go to the gym it becomes a chore. Which means you can't actually enjoy it.
It can't be a a quick fix - it is a lifestyle choice. It becomes part of your day and part of your routine! Don't starve yourself of treats or days off.
1. Enjoy it!
You can't force yourself to enjoy something, and at the beginning I really didn't enjoy working out! I had a sudden change of attitude and now I really do enjoy going, and what I enjoy more than anything is the feel-good-factor after a work out.
2. Get a Personal Trainer/Go to Group Classes
I'll be honest, if it was just me in charge of a workout I'd never get very far. Some people probably have more self discipline than I do.. If not consider getting someone else to shout at you and tell you what to do. That's what works best for me... I've really been enjoying going to classes such as Spin, Legs Bums Tums and Insanity.
3. Don't be embarassed
I know a lot of people who don't like the idea of going to a gym because they're embarassed of not being able to do it, or looking a sweaty mess. I was put off the gym for a while as well, until my mother convinced me to just try it. That's when I realised nobody actually cares. People are more concerned with their own work out than yours, believe me!
4. Inspire Yourself
Having a work out partner is a good way to motivate yourself because that way you're letting someone else down and not just yourself.

I know it can be hard to fit it into your day, and it can seem like a chore but when you see results that's when it all becomes worth it. Exercise gives you a positive mind, it's good for changing your mood, bettering your concentration, and getting the heart pumping and blood flowing. If you're struggling to revise something as simple as going for a long walk can help you settle down, my mother would always tell me to do 10 star jumps before going into an exam. If you're angry or upset, it's a great way to let off some steam and have some 'me time'.
When I saw the tiniest bit of muscle definition on my calf when I really stretched my leg I ran into the kitchen to tell my mother! So ridiculous and insignificant to me but it was the first result and difference I could see myself and it meant a lot to me! Results won't happen straight away, it'll take time and dedication, but stick to it!
If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you.
